Libertarian Pre-Election Rally In Madison

 October 31, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Pre-Election Rally In Madison

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) invites all peace loving Wisconsinites to a rally for peace this Saturday, November 2, at 10 am on State St., just outside of the state capitol in Madison. The event, coordinated by Disrupt the Corruption candidate for US Senate, Phil Anderson, will be targeting current Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin's record on peace and transparency.

With armed conflicts raging throughout the world, there is no better time than now to band together with fellow activists for peace and call for an end to US involvement in wars that serve little to no purpose for the United States.

"I am 100% anti-aggression and anti-war and believe that the only lawful, moral use of force is in self-defense. Our US government, however, has been engaged in immoral violence for over 70 years - starting wars and proxy wars, toppling democratically-elected governments, and bombing innocent people. We must rise up to stop this madness." - Phil Anderson, candidate for US Senate

Your Vote Is Your Vote Reminds The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin

 October 29, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Your Vote Is Your Vote Reminds The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin

As we enter the final stretch of one of, if not the most divisive election cycles in recent history, the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) would like to remind all voters, be they Democrat, Republican, Green, Libertarian, Constitution, or independent, that their vote is their own. Freedom of choice is one of the greatest foundations that we have in this country. We have the right, responsibility, and the obligation to select the person that we feel will do the best job in any elected office.

All throughout this painful process, there have been those in the ranks of the two "major" parties that are obsessed with trying to bully and defame those who believe that members of third parties are the ones who will be the best for the job. They descend upon the 20,000 or so Libertarian voters and claim that Libertarians are the problem instead of realizing that their candidate was so poor that they could not convince the 1.1 million eligible Wisconsin voters who sat out of the 2020 election that their guy was worth voting for. They weave their way through the court system trying to remove choice by removing candidates who rightfully earned their spot on the ballot.

"Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting." - Franklin D. Roosevelt

It does not matter if you vote for Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, Chase Oliver, Tarl Warwick, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Mr. T, or Ice-T. It is your vote. You should not be made to feel ashamed that you made that choice by anyone.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Demands An End To Civil Asset Forfeiture

 October 25, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Demands An End To Civil Asset Forfeiture

For decades, law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels have been exploiting an ancient law of last resort, civil asset forfeiture, as a way to pad their stats and supplement their budgets. For years, the Institute for Justice (IJ) has been fighting on behalf of Americans who have had their property seized, often with no charges filed or proof of wrongdoing, by a law enforcement agent who knows that the "offender" has neither the time or resources to fight to get their property back.

A recent example comes from a FedEx terminal in Indianapolis, Indiana. A parcel containing $42,000 of sales for a small, husband and wife jewelry business was seized by Indiana law enforcement.

"The Indiana government cannot take money from people just because a shipping company routes it through Indiana,” said IJ Attorney Marie Miller. “Henry and Minh have never been to Indiana or done business in Indiana, but now they have to defend against a forfeiture action in Indiana, without the state bothering to identify an Indiana crime that it can allege the money is linked to.” - IJ press release

These actions happen every day in America. Ordinary citizens, who have committed no crime, have their property snatched by government due to a loophole created by an outdated maritime law. The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin denounces these actions in the strongest of terms and demands that all of these loopholes be closed by all levels of government.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Calls For Voters To Choose Freedom From Bureaucracy

 October 22, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Calls For Voters To Choose Freedom From Bureaucracy

Every two years, the two "major" legacy parties spend billions of dollars telling anyone who will listen that they are the only real champion for taxpayers because they are the only one who will lower taxes. This year is no different. From Donald Trump and Kamala Harris arguing over who wants to end taxes on tips to each one calling out the other over who has the better tax plan, the debate ends up the same.

However, the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) knows what the real problem with the federal government is. From unelected bureaucracies to Tenth Amendment violating agencies to pork belly vote buying appropriation, hundreds of billions of dollars are wasted every year on things that are not the responsibility of government at any level.

When the federal government is not spending trillions and trillions of dollars on things that are none of their business, there is no reason to attach a tax on every single activity and transaction in the country. A return to a small, limited federal government like the Founders intended will be a massive tax cut for every single American. A vote for a Libertarian is a vote for freedom from excessive taxation.

"Our national debt is one of the greatest threats to future prosperity and individual freedom. America is currently over $35 trillion in debt, a staggering figure that continues to grow every year. This unsustainable level of spending has been caused by politicians from both major parties, who consistently pass bloated budgets and refuse to make hard choices about government priorities." - Chase Oliver, Libertarian Party candidate for President

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Calls For Equal Access At Debates

 October 17, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Calls For Equal Access At Debates

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) formally invites all interested voters and members of the media to a protest of the Wisconsin US Senate debate this Friday, October 18, 2024 from 6-9 pm at the WMTV studios at 615 Forward Dr. in Madison, WI. The protest, hosted by Senate candidate Phil Anderson, is to call out the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation and their deliberate exclusion of non "major" party candidates by creating unreasonable barriers to inclusion. Phil will also be answering the same questions posed to the "major" party candidates in real time.

"We're tired of being intentionally excluded. The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association has become an instrument of big party political tyranny, rather than reporting on it. There are more candidates on the ballot than just Baldwin and Hovde. Why shouldn't they have access to public airwaves as well?" - Senate candidate Phil Anderson

The LPWI strongly believes that Wisconsin voters have the right to hear from all candidates running for office in Wisconsin, not just the approved ones.

For those that cannot be in Madison, but are still interested in the protest, it will be simulcast at: DisruptTheCorruption.com.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Embraces Competition On The Ballot

October 15, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Embraces Competition On The Ballot

As we quickly approach the 2024 General Election, The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) is encouraged to see the amount of choice American voters will have this fall. In addition to the two "major" legacy parties, voters across the country will be given the choice to vote for Libertarians, the Green Party, the Constitution Party, and independents of all stripes. The LPWI, being the party of freedom for all, understands that there are millions of Americans who do not fit neatly into an elephant or donkey shaped box and are calling out for more choice in their elected representatives, not less.

The LPWI will not, in a blind lust for power, attempt to bully and browbeat allies who choose to find an alternative. The attacks by the Democrat Party against Green Party voters and Republican attacks against Libertarians shows their utter hypocrisy. While they make campaign speeches showering praise on American freedom and liberty, their actions against voters who might be similar but not exactly the same simply reeks of authoritarian populism.

American political ideology is a broad spectrum, not a binary choice. The voters have the right to make the choice that best suits their beliefs without fear of belittlement and reprisal from those seeking to inflate their power at the expense of others.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Calls For A True America First Administration

 October 11, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Calls For A True America First Administration

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) would like to remind all voters that the Libertarian Party is the only party that is committed to putting America first on the global stage. In a poll back in September conducted by the Cato Institute, 53% of Wisconsin residents polled felt that the United States is "too involved" in geopolitics and forever wars.

"Most say the US is “too involved” in world affairs and global conflicts (WI: 53%, PA: 50%, MI: 52%); majorities say US foreign policy does not put American interests first (WI: 62%, PA: 61%, MI: 60%); and majorities think it’s likely that the US is “closely” approaching World War III (WI: 59%, PA: 51%, MI: 54%)." - Cato Institute press release

The national Libertarian Party as well as the LPWI believe that American troops should be protecting Americans at home, not scattered all around the globe. Tens of thousands of troops, many of which are National Guard troops, abroad are useless during natural disasters when Americans need them and their resources the most. Battlefield medics, heavy engineers, and rough terrain transportation experts are just a few of the jobs that our troops are skilled in that are desperately needed at home right now. Americans deserve a presidential administration that will focus on closing unnecessary bases all around the world and bring those troops home where they belong.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Begins Candidate Recruitment for 2025 and Beyond

 October 8, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Begins Candidate Recruitment for 2025 and Beyond

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) is proud to announce that they are calling on any current member or potential future member with an interest in running for office to contact Party leadership today. If you are a person who values freedom, liberty, personal responsibility, and are feeling rejected by the two "major" parties, the LPWI would like to speak to you.

Since its formation in 1971, the Libertarian Party has stood for limited government as it is envisioned by the Founding Fathers as well as personal liberty and individual freedom. Today, government at all levels is less about what it should be doing and more about what it can give to you. In order to create a true Libertarian country that can benefit all Amercians, we need to elect representatives who are willing to make the tough decisions.

"As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty: a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and are not forced to sacrifice their values for the benefit of others.

We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized.

Consequently, we defend each person’s right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government or any authoritarian power." - Libertarian Party platform

If this sounds good to you, you sound good to us.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Decries Continued Exclusion of Candidates

 October 4, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Decries Continued Exclusion of Candidates

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) continues to be disappointed by the Commission on Presidential Debates and the mainstream media outlets by their decision to not include third party and independent candidates in their Vice Presidential debate. There are more than two points of view on the American political spectrum and they have the right to have their message on display alongside the two "major" parties.

The freedom to choose what is best for themselves is a fundamental right of every American. By not including all candidates in debates, they are deprived of the ability to make that choice. The justification often given for excluding third party candidates is that they have no chance to win, so they shouldn't be included in debates or even be on a ballot. By that criteria, Republican candidates should not be represented in the 4th Congressional District of Wisconsin races, because they have no chance to win. Nobody will seriously make that argument, so why should we make it for third party candidates?

It should not matter if a candidate gets one vote or ten million. Their views and policies deserve to be heard by the voters just as much as the "major" candidates. By excluding them, the American voters are not being allowed to make an informed decision about who represents them in government.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Certifies Electors For The 2024 General Election

 October 2, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Certifies Electors For The 2024 General Election

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) held a hybrid meeting on October 1, 2024 in room 400NE in the Wisconsin State Capitol and on Zoom for the purpose of certifying their electors for the 2024 general election in November. Due to inconsistent messaging and an apparent misinterpretation of state law by the Wisconsin Election Commission (WEC), the LPWI held a bureaucratic, procedural gathering to certify their electors under Wisconsin Statute 8.185(2).

The LPWI confirmed and certified that Tom Leary, Phil Anderson, Bryce Thon, Kristin Walker, Jeff Kortsch, Michael Schisel, Timothy Krenz, Tyler Danke, Nate Gall, and Michael Chianese will represent the party as electors for the 2024 general election.

"Despite Wisconsin Elections Commission Chair Jacobs' statements about the legitimacy of the Libertarian Party and other parties beyond the duopoly and how she thinks a vote for anything beside an R or D is a wasted vote, the WEC staff acknowledge the legitimacy of LPWI in reserving a room in the Capitol for us to select our Presidential Electors. LPWI met today as a show of our pursuit of Liberty and to give a voice to those who want freedom rather than corruption." - Brian Bell, LPWI Treasurer

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Calls For Meaningful Tax Cuts

 October 1, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Calls For Meaningful Tax Cuts

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) is disgusted by the two "major" parties using minor tax cuts as political favors. While the proposal to end taxation on tips will provide minor relief to a minority of workers, a repeal of the 16th Amendment to the Constitution would provide a much more meaningful relief to all workers.

In many places in the country, basic food items are not subject to taxation on the belief that we should not be taxing goods needed for basic survival. The LPWI believes that an income is also needed for basic survival and should not be taxed. Along with a massive reduction in size of government, major tax reductions will provide much more meaningful stimulation to the economy than any government spending bill ever will.

"The Libertarian Party is fundamentally opposed to the use of force to coerce people into doing anything. We think it is inherently wrong and should have no role in a civilized society. Thus we think that government forcing people to pay taxes is inherently wrong.Libertarians advocate for voluntary exchange, where people are free to make their own choices about what to do with their lives, their time, their bodies, their livelihood, and their dollars. If Americans want to give money to the government for one reason or another, they should be free to do so. If Americans prefer to spend their money on other things, then they should be free to do that also." - Libertarian Party Platform

The LPWI call on all citizens who are struggling financially due to the mismanagement by both parties to demand meaningful reforms that will benefit all Americans, not just friends of politicians.
