FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wisconsin Deserves "None Of The Above”
As we approach another election that pits the best of who cares against themselves, The
Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) would like to call on the Wisconsin Election
Commission; the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections; and the Senate
Committee on Shared Revenue, Elections, and Consumer Protection to make adjustments to
the Wisconsin ballots to allow for a, "none of the above" option for all races.
The option appears on the primary ballots of several states and has been an effective tool for
voters to voice their displeasure in the quality, or lack there of, of candidates for office. A
protest vote, in whatever form, shows that a voter cares enough about the process to vote as
well as their frustration with their choices. The United Kingdom has had the protest vote for
years in the Monster Raving Loony Party. Despite efforts by the UK officials to keep them off
the ballot, they persevere on the strength of a determined group of citizens who demand
better candidates.
With the additional barriers placed in front of smaller parties that restrict ballot access,
wouldn't it make more sense to give their voters an option instead of disenfranchising them?
