FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
More Money Is Not How You Solve Education In Wisconsin
In an interview published this week, Wisconsin State Senator Chris Larson, member of the Senate Committee on Education, proposed throwing a vast majority of the state's budget surplus into the failing education system.
"So the numbers, while it’s stunning — $4 billion to be able to meet the investment for our public schools — that’s also the amount of money that we have in our state surplus. So this is the time to do it. There is no cheap way out of this." - Wisconsin State Senator Chris Larson
The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) would like to point out that while the Wisconsin public school system is routinely failing our students, the private school system is flourishing, producing much better educated children at a significantly lower cost. Therefore, it is the position of the LPWI that the State of Wisconsin should begin the transition away from the failing public school model to a private school system.
Wisconsin's current school choice model can and should be the blueprint for the future of education in Wisconsin. It will not be easy, and there will be bumps in that road, but in the long run we will produce better educated students at a much better price to the taxpayers. That is how we make the future a better place for all of our kids.
