April 22, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LPWI Convention Features

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) will be celebrating all things Libertarian this coming weekend, April 25-27 at Treehaven UW-Stevens Point. All interested persons can tune in to the livestream of the convention at 9am Saturday morning, April 26th, on the LPWI website, lpwi.org.

This year, the LPWI is proud to host Jenn Gray for a workshop as a featured speaker on Saturday, April 26th. In addition to her work on Libertarian causes and campaigns, Jenn was the host of the "Leading Liberty" podcast where she discussed marketing and communications for liberty-minded professionals.

In addition to their featured speaker, the LPWI will present to the membership and the public for the first time their new and innovative fundraising project.

Known as the Alliance, the LPWI has partnered with a credit card processing company which will allow individual and volunteering business owners to donate part of a normal credit processing fee --at no extra cost to anyone-- to the LPWI and its affiliates. A consensual and legal process, the Alliance project promises to lead the way to a new and more effective process of doing business in a community.

For more details, join the convention livestream, as Scott Kucnicki of the Alliance explains this new and innovative disruptor for effective alternative politics in Wisconsin.

Beware Romans Bearing Gifts

 April 15, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Beware Romans Bearing Gifts

President Trump, as a part of his tariff the planet agenda, has begun to announce that

companies have already committed to investing hundreds of millions to billions of dollars in

the United States as a result of his trade policies.

The problem is, we here in Wisconsin remember all too well what can happen when a

business over promises and under delivers. Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics

manufacturer, promised our state a $10 billion investment that included a state of the art

production facility that would lead to as many as 13,000 jobs. After many years of trials,

tribulations, "re-imagining" of the facility, and missed deadlines, all Wisconsin got were a few

new buildings that eventually were purchased by Microsoft.

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) would like to remind everyone that there are no

guarantees in business. Counting dollars invested before they are actually spent is a recipe

for disaster. Meddling with the free market through crony capitalism by promising tax breaks

and "free" money subsidies only leads to more pressure on the taxpayers.

Free trade, small government, and minimal taxation is the best way to restore liberty to all

Americans.

"If you have been voting for politicians who promise to give you goodies at someone else's

expense, then you have no right to complain when they take your money and give it to

someone else, including themselves." - Thomas Sowell

Merry 145% More Expensive Christmas

 April 11, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Merry 145% More Expensive Christmas

Free trade is fair trade. What is neither is random, excessive taxes in the form of

tariffs on products and industries that will affect every American every day.

Christmas, the peak of American consumerism, is heavily dependent on imported

goods. 76% of smartphones, 78% of portable computers, 70% of the lithium ion

batteries used to power those products, 77% of toys, and 87% of video games are

Chinese imports. With the Trump Administration imposing new tariffs to bring the

rates on China to as much as 145%, the possibility of any of those individual

products doubling in price is quite high. Also, any product that may be made in

America with imported components will also see their prices spike.

“I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a

bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.” ― Winston S. Churchill

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) would gladly donate a bucket to President

Trump if that would get the point across.

Wisconsin Farmers Take Hit From Trade War

 April 4, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wisconsin Farmers Take Hit From Trade War

Historically, February into March in Wisconsin is a time of planning and planting for our

farmers. It is also the time where prices for their commodities continue their rise to the midsummer peaks before the decline towards harvest.

Unfortunately, due to the unprecedented trade war begun by the Trump Administration,

important commodities for Wisconsin farmers have seen their prices plummet. According to

the American Farm Bureau Association, May corn futures are off over 10% from their mid-

February peak. May soybeans have slightly recovered to be only off around 9% from their

early February peak. April Class IV milk is also down over 10% from its 52 week high.

10% may not sound like much, but apply that to your own finances. What changes would you

have to make if you saw a 10% reduction in your income overnight?

Despite the claims by the president that, "Tariffs do not cause inflation, they cause success",

it is becoming clear that success for the Wisconsin farmer under Trump means less income

and possibly fewer buyers for their goods.

Trade wars damage everyday Americans - the same "little guys" that Trump claims to be

fighting for. Lower income and higher prices while government revenue through taxation is

not what the American people voted for, but it appears that is exactly what they are going to

get if the tariff battles don't stop soon.
