Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Calls For 'Defend the Guard' Legislation

 September 27, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Calls For 'Defend the Guard' Legislation

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) calls on the leadership of the Wisconsin Legislature to pass a version of the "Defend the Guard" legislation. This legislation will nullify the overreach of the federal government in regards to National Guard troops being deployed overseas, keeping them home and available for their main duty of defending the citizens of Wisconsin. Absent a formal declaration of war under the Constitution, the authority to activate National Guard personnel belongs in the hands of the governor.

"The 'Defend the Guard' legislation is a critical step in restoring the constitutional balance of power. It ensures that our National Guard members are not sent into conflict zones unless Congress formally declares war, as the Constitution demands. For too long, our military personnel have been drawn into endless wars without proper oversight. This bill would protect our troops, respects the rule of law, and reinforces the idea that military action must always be a last resort — not a tool of unchecked executive power. The Wisconsin Legislature should pass Defend the Guard Legislation ASAP given the current state of the world." - Brian Bell LPWI Treasurer

The Wisconsin National Guard troops that are currently deployed overseas have been illegally conscripted by the federal government, leaving Wisconsin residents without the Guard resources that are critical in the event of a large scale event. Wisconsin is prone to widespread natural disasters and an insufficient amount of troops and equipment places Wisconsin residents in greater danger.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Pleads For Troops Safe Return

September 24, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Pleads For Troops Safe Return

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) demands President Biden and Secretary of Defense Austin to withdraw any and all American service members from the Middle East immediately. From 2013 through 2022, 239 US military personnel have lost their lives due to hostile action in wars that the United States had no business being in.

The LPWI passed the following resolution at our convention in April and stand firm in these beliefs:

"Recognizing that the entire future and continued existence depends on individual cooperation and peace in all communities we demand the following:

1)That the United States of America unilaterally denounces militarization, and its associated violent aggression and coercion, as a matter of policy.

2)That the United States immediately withdraws from all defense alliances; disposes of all overseas military bases, property, deployments of American citizens; including all private contractors, citizens or not.

3)That the US lead all nations in the end of using war and war-funding to create profits for the minority who benefit; to include dismantling and decommissioning all government-armed weapons of war, including (and especially) nuclear weapons.

4)That all nations dismantle all government security and intelligence secret police, agencies, etc.

5)That the initiation of violence to solve political and economic and other differences, cease immediately on this earth."

The LPWI is convinced that our troops deserve better.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Invites Teamsters to Endorse Chase Oliver

 September 20, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Invites Teamsters to Endorse Chase Oliver

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) would like to remind the International Brotherhood of Teamsters that there are more than the two "major" party candidates on the ballot for President this November. By choosing to not endorse a third party candidate, the Teamsters have assumed that only the duopoly can support their members. Excessive taxation, burdensome regulations, and the absolute right to privacy should resolutely be defended for Teamsters just the same as for any other American.

The Libertarian Party seeks liberty, freedom, and a truly free market economy that will significantly benefit every one of the 1.3 million Teamsters in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The Libertarian Party believes that any labor agreement belongs between the employee, their employer, and their union if they chose to be a part of one. Bargaining should be free of government interference, such as compulsory arbitration or imposing an obligation to bargain. By not endorsing Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver, the General Executive Board of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters appears to be doing their members a disservice in an era of need for all Americans.

The LPWI invites the Teamsters Executive Board to give Chase Oliver another look and reconsider their choice to not endorse a candidate for President this fall. It is not too late to make the bold choice for freedom and liberty.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Endorses Oliver/ter Maat

September 17, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Endorses Oliver/ter Maat

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) is proud to endorse Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat for the offices of President and Vice President in the November election. Oliver and ter Maat are committed to defending the libertarian principles of freedom, liberty, and personal choice.

“Broadly speaking, liberty means the right and the ability to live your own life as you see fit, in peace. If you're not harming someone with force, fraud, coercion, theft or violence, if you're not doing any of those bad things, your life is your life. Your body is your body. Your business is your business, and your property is your property. It's not mine, and it's not the government's.” - Chase Oliver to NPR, 6/21/24

The LPWI believes that your life belongs to you, not bureaucrats in Madison or Washington. We as a people will never live up to the foundations that the Founding Fathers laid for us if we do not return to their ideas of limited government, minimal taxation, and a free market system unburdened from stifling regulation and meddlesome mandates. Oliver and ter Maat support these ideals, and we support them.

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Decries Debate Exclusion

September 13, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) wonders why the organizers of the formal Presidential debates seem to think that excluding candidates like Libertarian Chase Oliver, the Green Party's Jill Stein, and independent Cornel West from the debate stage is acceptable? In an era where a primary debate can have nearly a dozen candidates on the stage at once, it does seem suspicious to limit the speech of American citizens simply because they are not a part of the two "major" parties.

"As we see Donald Trump and Kamala Harris debate on ABC, recognize that this debate is an
incomplete one that doesn't tell the full story of this election. By excluding candidates like
myself, ABC does a disservice to the voting public." - Chase Oliver, Libertarian Party candidate
for President

It should not matter if the candidate gets one million votes or one thousand. They have earned
their right to be on the ballot and the voters deserve to hear all platforms that will be available
to them this November. The Commission on Presidential Debates and the mainstream media networks, by
restricting access, are feeding the duopoly that a growing number of voters are becoming
disillusioned with.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Embraces A Return To A Truly Free Market

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) is distraught by the calls from the Democrat Party at
their convention for artificial price caps on all sorts of products. Price caps always lead to
shortages, driving even more upward pressure on industries that are already stressed to the
breaking point by the caps. From medication to rent, Democrats are demanding the most anti free
market regulations of all to be forced onto all Americans regardless of how much pain and suffering
it causes in the name of "equality".

The LPWI continues to believe that a return to a market without oppressive government controls and
regulations is the best way to raise everyone out of the economic mire that we have been sucked
into by uncompetitive legislation and unsustainable spending.

"We believe in free trade and a market driven by consumer demand. We believe the best regulator for
the marketplace is a well informed consumer with a lot of choices. Anyone who has taken even an
intro economics course knows that price caps will lead to people purchasing more than they would
otherwise and is likely to lead to supply shortages" - Brian Bell, LPWI Treasurer

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin has Always been for Legalization

 September 3, 2024
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Libertarian Party of Wisconsin has Always been for Legalization

With his announcement on social media over the weekend, former President Trump continues
to attempt to grift away Libertarian Party voters with a cheap ploy to buy votes with another
token proposal that barely scratches the surface of what should be done. First it was
eliminating taxes on tips, then it was embracing crypto currencies, now in the latest attempt of
pandering to voters by copying popular Libertarian ideas, Donald Trump is claiming to support
decriminalizing cannabis.

"In Florida, like so many other States that have already given their approval, personal
amounts of marijuana will be legalized for adults with Amendment 3...We do not need to
ruin lives & waste Taxpayer Dollars arresting adults with personal amounts of it on them."
- Donald Trump on Truth Social

Since the formation of the Libertarian Party in 1971, Libertarians have believed that only
actions that infringe on the rights of others can properly be termed “crimes”. In particular, we
advocate for the repeal of laws restricting the production, sale, possession, or use of prohibited
drugs and medicines. While Trump's call for personal use is a solid first step towards true
liberty and freedom that all Americans are promised in the Declaration of Independence and
are protected by the Constitution, it is just one more tiny handout to acquire the praise and
adoration he so desperately seeks and requires. The 'War on Drugs' has done nothing more
than waste taxpayer money at the expense of citizens’ freedom of choice.

The Libertarian Party would like to invite anyone who approves of policies like this but who do
not approve of Trump to consider their candidate, Chase Oliver.
