Libertarians Will Defend Free Speech at Convention:

Government Censorship Bill Looms Like a Guillotine

Ubet, WI--”The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) will vigorously defend the basic right of everyone to access and use free speech and technology that harms NO ONE. We OPPOSE this legislation,” the LPWI Press Office said in a strongly-worded statement about a government censorship bill.

Libertarian Party members and guests in Wisconsin will meet in annual convention, April 14th to April 16th, in Milwaukee, as the US Congress considers the radical confinement of personal and public thought in the RESTRICT Act bill. The measure, if passed, goes far, far beyond banning social and other media apps owned by foreign companies, such as mainland China’s TikTok.

A major concern with the act, introduced March 7th by Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), involves the entangling language of Presidential Executive Orders and findings, investment networks, definitions of entities, agents, interests, and effects, and “legalisms” that can potentially give the Federal government control over any, or all, online activity, sources, or content—basically originating from anywhere, and containing practically anything.

At its convention in Milwaukee, the LPWI will possibly have a floor motion, referencing its platform principle for all honest people: and the protection of their individual rights, namely — life, property, and liberty of speech and action;” in defiance of the proposed RESTRICT Act, or variations of it.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Freedom & Rights Activists Will Address Libertarians

Ubet, WI—The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) will have two keynote speakers at its annual convention in Milwaukee, Saturday, April 15th. Elizabeth Coquillard and William Henry, who co-direct Liberty Offense, a non-profit organization that addresses constitutional and personal rights violations, will conclude the day’s events at the evening dinner. Coquillard and Henry work through public and community action to address the issues of rights violations through all branches of government and media.

The LPWI convention, which will take place at the Potawatomi Casino & Hotel, begins at 8 AM, Saturday, April 15th, as part of a weekend for networking, meetings, and party business, including the elections for the Executive Committee for the 2023-2025 term. The events and the convention will simulcast online at www.lpwi.org .

Coquillard, a noted liberty political activist, and Henry, a veteran and a communications professional, address the Libertarians as a pressure builds among American citizens against the discredited two-party system for the bipartisan inability to solve the material and ethical problems facing America. Coquillard and Henry speak as two private citizens who empower people to fight peacefully for their right of free choice and consent in all political, economic, social, and cultural matters against the ever-increasing, and abusive, power of government

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wisconsin Libertarians to Hold Convention in April

Ubet, WI—The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) will hold its annual convention the weekend of April 14th, 15th, and 16th, at the Potawatomi Casino and Resort in Milwaukee. The convention celebrates fifty years since the official founding of the party within the state.

The main annual business portion of the convention will begin that Saturday morning at eight o’clock, April 15th. Members may pay dues that day to participate.

During the business session, the LPWI will address the usual party concerns, including the by-laws and constitution review and changes, platform amendments, and most importantly, electing its Executive Committee officers and delegates for the new two-year term.

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin advocates a philosophy of “do no harm to others, and steal from nobody,” supporting the inherent right of individual and family consent, never threats or force, in public matters for the greater good. Besides supporting an end to nation-state conflict and a civil peace within them, the Libertarian Party philosophy includes the personal responsibility and self-accountability to aid and protect those who cannot help or defend themselves.

All members of the Libertarian Party must sign a pledge upon paying dues that states, “I certify that I oppose the initiation of force to achieve political or social goals.”

While it offers different packages for the weekend events, paid “members in good standing” may attend the Saturday business meeting at no cost. With the press and public welcome to observe, the LPWI will also simulcast the Saturday meeting on its website, www.lpwi.org . To find out more about the LPWI or for more info on the convention, please visit the party website.
